Vista Service Pack1 failure reading "WindowsUpdate_8024200D"
To whoever maybe able to help me. I have been having repeated problems since September 2008 in trying to install the Vista service pack1 onto my pc. Everytime I try to install it I get the same message everytime--- failed to install code "WindowsUpdate_8024200D" "WindowsUpdate_dt000". Can anybody please tell me what the *** I am able to do about this as its really getting on my nerves now as to why it will not install. I have spoken to "technical experts" from different places and they have all told me the same thing to do- uninstall any other service pack first. Reboot then try installing from there. I have followed these instructions and found i am still not having any luck. Please can someone help me to resolve this?

I can't get service pack 1 to install either; if it is 1, how is there another service pack to uninstall - sorry I don't know much about computers. I never expected Vista to be so difficult. I don't have these problems with XP. I was trying to figure out if there was someone I could call but I take you posting to mean "don't waste your time" Yikes!

I'm getting the same error code for this update although I'm on sp2. Vista has serious bugs in its programs that have, I beleive, Been abandoned by Microsoft in favour of Windows7.I have spent the last two days repairing my 500GB hard driver when I discovered that I couldn't create a partition due to Vista loggingthe hard drive as 161GB hard drive. How the ____ it did that I have no idea, but it did. Also having to re-install third party software due to vista loosing files or corrupting files etc.IS NOT time that Microsoft acknowleges the fact that all Vista's veriants are failures and refundedlicencies for the trouble caused or even offer Windows 7 to replace thier Vista i.e. swoopping Vista disk for Windows 7 disk.
